Pretty Things

A few months ago my mom and I had a discussion about the peculiar desire women have to look at "pretty" things. For me that interprets into gardens, rustic/antique/vintage, lace, cream&white&barely-there-pink, wood, stone, and tinted glass. For another of the female kind that might mean sequins, silk, and bright colors. Basically "pretty" is relative, but whatever your "pretty" is, you love it, need to be surrounded by it, find happiness in it. I'm not talking about the eternal happiness that comes from the gospel...more like the ability to recognize the beauty your Father in Heaven has placed in your life, has placed in you.

President Uchtdorf recently taught:
"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.
No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities,
we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before."

This is actually my attempt to recreate the post I just wrote about "pretty" things. In my excitement of adding lovely pictures I lost my original post full of wit and wisdom ;). But this one gives you the gist. So the next time a man in your life makes a comment about needing to put dinner in coordinating casserole dishes on a table that is blooming with a center piece, or wonders why the wreath you made for the door of your new home is the first thing to go up before any boxes are unpacked, why you want a new pair of shoes, why your neck turns to rubber when you pass a store window, why we plan weddings, or care about your handwriting, just tell him "Because it's pretty."

Below are a few treasures I've come across lately as I wander through the blogs of other women who have learned to embrace their "pretty" and share it with others.
