Jenny-O

Not the turkey, the violinist; Jenny Oaks Baker. Today I made two mixed CDs for my brother, the last being a mix of Christmas music (mission modest of course...they were all instrumentals). I added some jovial tunes from Jenny Oaks Baker's Christmas album "O Holy Night", it's lovely. When I hear her play it makes me want to play. In my mind I actually think "I can do that..." until I start playing and remember how although you may recognize the tune it doesn't quite move in the same way (physically or emotionally). When Jenny Oaks Baker plays she makes her violin sing; honestly! When she plays a song I've known forever (e.g. O Holy Night, Silent Night, Ave Maria, How Great Thou Art...) it's as if I'm hearing words, not notes. I forget the song is being performed with only instruments. Lovely...truly lovely.
P.S. Yes, she is Elder Dallin H. Oaks' daughter.
