We've been making, baking, gathering, and packaging non-stop (or so it feels) since the day after Thanksgiving. I've been determined to beat the holiday mailing rush. The other day I went to the post office and there was hardly anyone in line. SUCCESS!
We attended our stake live nativity on December 1st (which was the night before the blizzard, phew!). Leone was growing tired of waiting in line but once we reached the front she enjoyed petting the camel and goats (yes, a real camel!).
She was silent as we walked through the nativity. The last portion is Mary, Joseph, and a baby Jesus in a stable (this baby was not more than a month old, he was so tiny). We showed Leone baby Jesus and she stared in awe. As we walked back to our car we said good-bye to friends and tried to get Leone to say good-bye as well but she just stared blankly, not interested. A minute later, still walking through the parking lot, Leone suddenly looked back at the nativity, waved her hand, and said "Bye-bye Jesus". We were shocked and touched! That little moment made standing out in the cold worth every minute.
Our tree is up and Leone loves exploring the ornaments. She is mesmerized. We've been watching Christmas movies, listening to festive music, and we have a couple of parties coming up. What I'm really looking forward to is Finals Week/Winter Break so we can enjoy family time, uninterrupted.
